Description
The generation of magnetic fields requires special attention and the use of specific materials to provide valid and cost-effective solutions compared to the alternative of Mu-metal, which is very expensive for some protection applications. MT/BT transformer substations, which power stables, generate magnetic fields exceeding 10 micro Tesla. One of the main concepts is to use a layering of metal sheets to saturate and attenuate the magnetic fields in the surrounding environment.
Typically, aluminum panels are employed with overlapping layers of high permeability materials. It is this layering, combined with the pairing of high magnetic permeability sheets supported by others in steel or alloys, that allows for the attenuation of such magnetic field generations.
